BIOGRAPHY

Maria is a freelance artist, designer and maker based in the East Midlands. She completed an MA in Performance Design at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (2021), during which time she was awarded the John Elvery prize to recognise Excellence in Stage Design in her work towards creative inclusion and sustainability. 

Maria was shortlisted for the emerging stage design award The Linbury Prize in 2021 for her integrated design approach to sustainability, and now practises as an accredited Carbon Literate designer and trainer. 

Maria is part of East Midlands based collective B Team, who specialise in devising theatre about the environment that provokes conversation and change.

A regular creative facilitator at the University of Derby, Nottingham Trent University, London College of Fashion and for schools, youth theatres and community groups, Maria is passionate about passing on skills and knowledge to the next generation of creatives.
